"Through the power of touch, acupressure awakens the body's natural ability to heal."

What is Acupressure?

Acupressure is an ancient healing practice. It involves applying gentle pressure to specific points on the body, known as Acupoints. These points lie along energy pathways called meridians, through which life energy (or "Qi") flows. By stimulating these points using fingers, thumbs, or specialized tools, acupressure helps restore balance in the body, improve energy flow, and promote natural healing — "Small pressure points can create powerful healing."

Origin of Acupressure:

Acupuncture is an ancient Indian healing art that was perfected in China and is now a globally accepted medical science. It began 4,000 years ago in South India as Varmatherapy or Varma Kalai, a martial art using pressure points, which was carried to China by the sage Bohar (Bhoyang). In ancient books like Charka & Sushruta Samhita acupressure mentioned as Sujichikilsa. Then China turned those techniques into the organized medical system as Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) we see today. It is officially trusted by the World Health Organization (WHO) and used by doctors in over 120 countries to treat pain and illness.

How Acupressure works?

"Balance the body, calm the mind, and heal the soul, this is the essence of acupressure."

By stimulating specific points, acupuncture unblocks stagnant Qi, restoring balance between Yin and Yang, which are interconnected forces of the body.

Acupressure works by blocking pain signals at the spinal cord level — the stimulation from the pressure points activates larger, non-pain sensory nerves that "override" and suppress the smaller nerves, responsible for transmitting pain, effectively reducing or stopping the pain message from reaching the brain.

Acupressure also works through additional pathways like releasing natural pain-relieving chemicals (endorphins) and activating the brain's own pain-control systems to provide long-lasting relief, especially in chronic pain conditions.

What does it treat?

Acupuncture is used to manage a wide range of health conditions, with the most reliable evidence supporting its effectiveness in relieving pain. It is commonly used for chronic pain conditions such as lower back pain, neck pain, osteoarthritis, and knee discomfort.

It can also help reduce severe headaches like migraines and tension headaches. It is also known to ease nausea and vomiting, especially after surgery or chemotherapy. Beyond physical symptoms, it supports mental well-being by helping to reduce stress, anxiety, and depression through relaxation. It may also improve sleep patterns, making it beneficial for people dealing with insomnia.

Gynaecological issues like Dysmenorrhea (menstrual cramps), PCOD, Amenorrhoea. Respiratory issues like allergic rhinitis, digestive issues like bloating, constipation and improving immune function.

Contraindication for Acupressure:

Mechanical Obstructions like twisted loop of intestine, severed tendon or some object stuck in the throat cannot be treated.
